Post Jam Update + Future of the game
Hey! Guambe (@moraguma) here!
I wanted to start off by saying that we're really grateful for the reception Whale Eater has received. This is the second GMTK Jam we've participated in and the comments people have been leaving have honestly made us really excited to keep working on the game. So, based on the feedback we received + our experience watching people play the game on streams, we've concocted a little post-jam update!
Here's our changelog:
- Accessibility Options: You can now disable screen rotation from the accessibility tab on the main menu. Be aware that the game was designed with screen rotation in mind. This option was created for people who suffer from motion sickness or people who really really don't like screen rotation, it is not the way the game is meant to be played
- Minor fixes in most levels for the sake of clarity and creating fewer opportunities to softlock yourself
- You should no longer get stuck on corners after grappling
- You will no longer do a little jump after walking off of moving platforms into regular ground
- You can no longer harpoon a block the opposite direction you were pulling from
- You can now press esc on the main menu to go back to the first screen
That's it! We hope these changes will make Whale Eater more consistent and enjoyable.
Now, for the big news: we're continuing development on Whale Eater! No specifics for now, but we're planning on adding a few more mechanics, a couple more levels, and turning it into a short-ish focused puzzle game. Follow @moraguma and @amoradbot on Twitter to stay up to date on any news!
Again, thanks for playing! Now, back to anxiously waiting for the final results
